I bought a new 450SL in 1975; purchase price was about $20K USD. During the time I owned it, the repair costs literally exceeded the purchase price. I was glad I had kept the '65 Porsche 356 SC. By comparison, I kept my Datsun 280Z for 14 years and only had to replace a clutch and two wheel cylinders.

"One must work in solitude as a man who opens a clearing in virgin forest, sustained by the unique hope that somewhere in its depths, others are working to the same end."
- Ernst Jünger
"I find that I must go handsomely, whatever it costs me, and the charge will be made up in the fruit it brings."

the 450SL is a good car... the W108 6.3 is a true German Muscle Car.
Cheers,
