Mensur

  1. I've always wanted to do this: where the colors and the scars.

Know of where I might find a schlager?

  2. I have always lamented the apparent (to me, at least) lack of mensur fencing in America. In the era of flag football it would be an excellent method of seperating the men from the anemic cowards who thrive in the safety of the modern world. Unfortunately, I am certain that a self-righteous safety fanatic would eagerly pursue my expulsion were I to take up the sport with my compatriots.

  3. I think no Anglo would last a second in a Corps or at a Mensur.

These societies and their rituals carry the traditions of the Bildungbuergertum or clerisy, a social class unkown in English-speaking countries, since it is built on foundations of asceticism and idealism- both notions inimical to the English character.
