Proper haircuts.
Out in the desert, looking at proposed geothermal drilling sites in Djibouti 1984, I saw the FFL on maneuvers with other units. Then they were wearing OD Green shorts and shirts, grey socks, black boots, scarf around the neck, etc.
Still have the best discipline of Western armies. Though I believe the Aussies actually eat rocks for breakfast...good friends.
I got terribly pissed with them in Djibouttiville in 1987. Played rugby against a team of them in Bangui in 1981. They lost.
