Hunting With Hounds

  1. Reminds me of a lively tune...

D'ye ken John Peel with his coat so gay*?
D'ye ken John Peel at the break o' day?
D'ye ken John Peel when he's far, far a-way.
With his hounds and his horn in the morning?

Also the regimental march of the Queens Own Yeomanry...amongst others

  2. When dismounted I much prefer beagling to whatever it is these chaps are hunting (crayfish?) Beagles are cheaper to feed and clean than retrievers, and rabbits don't swim. One may get muddy in the pursuit but at least not overly wet.

  3. Jacobite ~ They're after mink or coypu I would imagine.

  4. Definitely Mink hounds, not retrievers (I took the photo, nice to see it pop up here). Formerly Otter hounds until otter hunting was banned. Under current mad legislation in England they officially hunt rats's and rabbits because that's legal.

Interesting summer hunting outside the fox hounds and beagles season.
