This is a beautiful picture Laguna. It brings back to me memories of a great journey through Italy. Although I must say that my friend and I were travelling quite adventurously and our improvised schedules didn’t require such chic outfits. Of course we would have loved to look more presentable when we were invited to Grazzano by Princess Meralda herself. However, she was a very understanding lady and treated us charmingly!
The gentlemen's suits are fantastic, especially the light-colored one on the left (linen?). And though she's half out of the picture, the woman in her summer shift is astoundingly chic.
Question is, which shoe looks better? I can't make up my mind. They transform things in different directions. The pant leg is flared, which plays a slightly cowboy note. The loafers control for this. The buttoned, boot-like things accentuate it. Apollo or Dionysos. It's a toss-up.
The guy with his legs crossed looks like he is wearing 2 different pairs of shoes.
ReplyDeleteGood eye, Stephen. I did not notice that at first but it appears that he is wearing two different pair of shoes.
ReplyDelete"Stephen", I think it's the lighting, but he has enough style that if they were different, it would be acceptable.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I like the shoe on the straightened leg. They appear to be oxfords, which are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAbout the shoes of Signore Agnelli:
ReplyDeleteHe suffered several ski accidents, and, during parts of his life needed a special ortopedic boot.
I guess I was right. Thanks for the background information. Still looks sharp though.
