Thanks for pointing me to it (the sun and the writer). Schopenhauer in his later years also used to take off his hat and pay respect to it every morning, his trusty Atma ('the world-soul', his poodle) at his side.
I have often indulged myself in that sun-adoring practice, too, recently, for example while eating a salad nicoise and drinking several glasses of white wine while discussing literature with a good friend...
