In recent weeks a number of scenarios and opportunities have been presented to me. An English chum has asked me to get involved with a safari and deep-sea fishing resort project in Mozambique. Another wants me to help start a hedge fund in South Africa. Two American chaps of my acquaintance have recently immigrated with their families to Uruguay. Another colleague is planning to move to New Zealand. Europe beckons, as always, and I think increasingly of picking up a villa in sunny Portugal, Spain, or Croatia, or a secluded mountain chalet in my beloved Germany or Austria. I shall give these proposals serious thought.
What! and leave Laguna?
ReplyDeleteI love South Africa, my family lived there just before I was born but I'm just so nervous of visiting the dark continent now. Germany and Austria always get my vote, I love Germanic countries for their folkishness, friendliness and familiarity, but I also love Spain and Portugal for its enviably beautiful women and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteHmm, what to chose? Are you going to spin a bottle?
All of those sound like great locales.
ReplyDeleteFor what its worth, I vote Uruguay.
ReplyDeleteIf you leave, whose neck am I going to kiss?
ReplyDeleteGasp choose, not chose, please always edit me!
ReplyDeleteVenice. One of my husbands (the English aristocrat) can usually be found supping Bellinis in Harry's Bar, you'd be guaranteed some amusing smalltalk.
ReplyDeleteThe good ole' USA would lose a terrific asset if you jumped ship. Methinks the Iberian peninsula is about to come unglued economically, if you go there, what until you can go cheap. Pursuing the hedge fund opportunity in South Africa, while nurturing the Mozambican venture sounds like a slice of paradise and worthy of man like you. Tough call.
ReplyDeleteAlcoholics Anonymous is available in all of these locations.
