David Saxby Discusses Tailoring

  1. No offense to Mr. Saxby, who appears to be an absolutely outstanding fellow, with good Received English. However, in Video One he needs to do something about his tie.

I have no doubt that the properly turned out English gentleman remains the world standard for male dress. It is amazingly distressing to see Englishmen wearing hoodies and baseball caps.

  2. Ivar, you're bang on, on both counts. I've chatted to Mr Saxby a couple of times (and bought some marvellous second-hand Savile Row cavalry-cut trousers off him) - he is indeed a charming and knowledgeable chap. (And he dresses extremely well - normally with a more country / weekend look - here he looks more town.)

  4. It's all well and good to outfit physically fit subalterns but the true test of a good tailor is to make a flattering cut of clothes for paunchy middle-aged men.
