I understand that this is an excellent biography of the man who is arguably the best British writer of his generation.

I wonder if it will matter to many that he had three gay lovers while studying at (all-male) Oxford.

He was, subsequently, married twice and the father of seven.

Brideshead was one of those books that changed my life in that it touched me in the way no other book had, I'll tell you my awful Chateau d'Y Quem story one day. Suffice to day I was an utter peasant.

Fantastic book - Really enjoyed it. I felt it expained where Brideshead came from without spoiling it at all.
