A great regiment with a proud history. Founded 7 November 1759 as Hale's Light Horse. John Hale gave it it's distinct badge. As the 17th Lancers they took part in the American Revolution, the Charge of the Light Brigade, putting down the Sepoy Rebellion, etc. They have been amalgamated with other regiments several times and will be merged again in 2020 to form the Royal Lancers. THE elite shock troops of their era.
"In every battle the eyes are the first to be conquered..."
- Tacitus, Germania
"One must work in solitude as a man who opens a clearing in virgin forest, sustained by the unique hope that somewhere in its depths, others are working to the same end."
- Ernst Jünger
"I find that I must go handsomely, whatever it costs me, and the charge will be made up in the fruit it brings."
