Is this a photo of one of the old Heidelberg fencing clubs? I remember seeing photos of Prussian officers with their sabre scars. It was a good rite of manhood.

I think Germany has banned the practice now. "Everything that isn't mandatory is prohibited" in the New Germany, and everywhere else.

Didn't the old Heidelberg fencing clubs/University use face shields that only allowed wounds on certain parts of the face?
