As I have aged I have shifted the time of day for drinking spirits to the morning hours. There are numerous advantages to this strategy, not the least of which is that it eliminates waking up with a hangover or worse yet with one's face in the pavement, carpet, or bare floor, an all too common result of imbibing in the night time. It also puts a rosy glow on any morning and gets the blood pumping in preparation for a constitutional walk.
