In venues away from malarial swamps a Schweppes with a squeeze of lime in hand always makes for a good prop at parties when one is periodically drying out on the water wagon but doesn't want to appear as some sort of teetotaling bore to one's companions. The bitter quinine makes it almost undrinkable so that the drink lasts a long time and if it does actually contain some gin it is rendered thus so completely.
"In every battle the eyes are the first to be conquered..."
- Tacitus, Germania
"One must work in solitude as a man who opens a clearing in virgin forest, sustained by the unique hope that somewhere in its depths, others are working to the same end."
- Ernst Jünger
"I find that I must go handsomely, whatever it costs me, and the charge will be made up in the fruit it brings."
