The Grenadier Guards a great regiment with a great history and, given their training, they will continue to be great and formidable for the foreseeable future.
Personally though my pick for the best regiment that ever was or will be is the Rhodesian Light Infantry, "The Saints", rated as the best counterinsurgency force in their time. The fact that their timely intervention saved my life when I was wounded and immobile on the battlefield has nothing to do with my choice...right!!!
