Glad to see Jeremy Irons getting what appears to be some decent work these days. He hasn't really done much since Reversal of Fortune. I don't know, though. Do we really need another movie about the credit crisis? Seems like the market has finally forgotten about it, and I know I have.
I get the feeling this movie will not be about the millions of people who borrowed against their homes to buy bass boats and Rolex watches and vacations. I somehow think this movie will not tell the tale of the people who used their homes as cash registers and then did not live up to the agreement they had made with their lender to repay the borrowed cash. Why do I have this nagging sense that the movie will be about ruthless bankers and how their greed ruined the dreams of the middle class? Hopefully there will be some good bits about bonuses. I prefer the bonuses.
Its actually about both, but even more it portraits the view of the banker who just satisfied people's demand for more, which is true in my eyes. Its a very good movie for those working in the sector, I went to see it with a friend twice, we loved it.
"In every battle the eyes are the first to be conquered..."
- Tacitus, Germania
"One must work in solitude as a man who opens a clearing in virgin forest, sustained by the unique hope that somewhere in its depths, others are working to the same end."
- Ernst Jünger
"I find that I must go handsomely, whatever it costs me, and the charge will be made up in the fruit it brings."
