Keeping the dream alive..

For me belts and belt buckles are hard to choose. Whatever I pick doesn't look right.

A typical professor would have endless strokes if he saw those two choices.

Wear them all the time!

The woman of my dreams wears this kind of buckles...but women's fashion is such a crap nowadays, so I guess that's the reason I'm a bachelor. You cannot compromise on sartorial details.

That which might be appropriate for Rodeo, might not be for Rodeo Drive.

As you probably know, Hemingway wore a simple leather belt with a Gott Mit Uns buckle.

Why, what's wrong with the German Federal Republic?

"Why, what's wrong with the German Federal Republic?"

It lacks a certain seriousness, a sense of the realities of an economic superpower in a world of violent disagreements about the usual things, such as land, people, borders, resources. For example, just this weekend the new German Defence Minister, Ursula van der Leyen, visited the troops in Afghanistan. She refused to be photographed with any military equipment, any tanks or guns, whatsoever. This caused a bit of stir in the German press, and we must wonder how a country with the collective mindset of a social worker will make its way in this wicked world.

Rather rare pattern German buckle from the Weimar Republic era.

I have such a buckle from the late Reich and have off-and-on looked for a belt that would fit it. I am too thrifty to go to a harness shop and have a proper one made.
